Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 8, 2026. This Privacy Policy explains how 22-LIFE collects, uses, and protects your personal information. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our members -- veterans, first responders, and their families.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password. You may optionally provide a username, profile photo, bio, and military branch or service.
Verification Documents: If you apply for a verified badge, you may upload a DD-214 or professional credentials. These documents are accessible only to our administrators for the purpose of confirming your status and are never shared publicly or sold to third parties.
Content You Share: Posts, images, videos, stories, comments, and direct messages you create or send through the platform.
Usage & Analytics Data: We collect information about how you use 22-LIFE — such as which features and screens you use and events like signing up or posting — through our analytics provider, PostHog, to understand engagement and improve the platform.
Crash & Diagnostic Data: We use Sentry to collect crash reports and error diagnostics so we can keep the app stable.
Device & Notification Data: If you enable notifications, we collect a device push token so we can deliver the notifications you’ve opted into.
Cookies & Local Storage: We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to support analytics. We do not use them for third-party advertising.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve the 22-LIFE platform and its features
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Review verification documents and grant verified status
- Send transactional emails such as password resets and activity notifications
- Deliver push notifications you have enabled
- Analyze usage and diagnose crashes to improve the platform
- Moderate content and enforce community guidelines
- Display your profile and posts to other members as you choose
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or third-party marketers.
3. Anonymous Posting
When you post anonymously, your name and profile are hidden from other members. However, your account is still associated with anonymous posts internally for moderation and safety purposes. Support Room posts may display your verified role (Veteran or First Responder) even when posted anonymously.
4. Third-Party Services We Use
We rely on a small set of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, each under their own privacy and security commitments. We do not sell your data to any of them.
- Railway — application hosting and our database
- Cloudflare R2 (and legacy Cloudinary) — storage of images and uploaded files
- Twilio SendGrid — sending transactional email (e.g., password resets, notifications)
- PostHog — product analytics
- Sentry — crash and error diagnostics
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure infrastructure hosted by Railway (application and database), with images and uploaded files stored on Cloudflare R2 (and, for older uploads, Cloudinary). We use industry-standard encryption and access controls. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
While we take security seriously, no system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, posts, and associated content are permanently removed, and copies are purged from routine backups on a rolling basis.
Verification documents are retained only as long as necessary to review and confirm your status. You may request deletion of your verification documents at any time by contacting us.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you by visiting your profile
- Edit your profile information at any time
- Delete your account at any time through Edit Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, posts, and all associated data
- Request a copy of your data by contacting us at the email below
- Control notifications through your device settings at any time
8. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access to or deletion of that information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information. You can exercise these rights using the tools in your profile or by contacting us at support@22-life.com.
9. Children's Privacy
22-LIFE is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify members of material changes by posting a notice on the platform. Continued use of 22-LIFE after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
